Honorary President

Ken Hayes

Ken has been a member of the club since 2007 and has been the Vice President and President before this position.  Along with Jenny he was instrumental in starting up the Learn2Bowl initiative that was one of the reasons we won the Bowls England Club of the Year in 2014. Ken also fills the rôle of Club Webmaster.

President

Joan Hamilton

Joan joined the club in 2015, having never previously played the game.  She claims to be primarily a social bowler but after some persuasion entered Club competitions and thanks to excellent partners, (her words), has made several finals, even adding her name to the honours boards.  Ever optimistic, her aim is to use up a full piece of chalk in one match!  She is the first Learn2Bowl graduate to hold the position of Club President.

Vice - President

Lyndon Noon.

Lyndon began bowling in his mid 20’s. He won the Greater Manchester Short Mat Bowls Championship 2 years running in the early 80’s and also won the Butlins Singles Championships in 1985 pocketing £1000 in prize money. Shortly after, he switched codes to flat green bowls and has won indoor and outdoor County titles in double figures. He has been proud to represent Lancashire on many occasions.

Honorary Secretary

Stephen Hemsley

Stephen started bowling in 1974 and joined the Club in 1990, since when he has served on the Executive in a number of capacities.   In September 2017 he was appointed Bowls England Director of Finance.  Stephen has enjoyed modest success on the green, representing Club and County with the occasional qualification for the National Championships.

Honorary Treasurer

John Muldoon

John has been a Bolton member for five years now, after taking fifteen years to find the place (it's a long story).  Plays both competitive and social bowls and enjoys both equally. Only works when he can be bothered these days as would much rather be playing bowls. John is also the Men's Captain and as such selects the Men's Team for National and Inter Club Competitions.

Club Captain

Mike Parker

Mike moved to the North West in 2001 after being Club Captain of IBM Bowls club in Hampshire for many years. He was Portsmouth and District Open singles champion in 1995. Mike was elected as BFGBC Club Captain in 2014, and is delighted to continue serving in this capacity.

Competitions Secretary

Bernie Hill

Bernie took the job on at 2017 AGM having served a year previously as Club President. Bernie also has many other talents.  She is an accomplished musician, (teaching and playing), is a qualified coach, (BDA Level 2) and also a qualified Umpire.  I believe she can also bowl a bit!

Greens & Surrounds Team Leader

Graham Ellis

Played Crown Green aged 20 in Wigan, but gave up after losing to 'semi-pro' old timers. Visiting Australia in 2015 he watched son-in-law play at local club.  A  few practice sessions later was playing in their weekly Pennant teams.  Found BFGBC in the UK to keep his eye in and got roped in.  Greatest honour is representing Lancashire along with winning a number of team events with Bolton.

Membership Secretary/ Membership Development

Jenny Hayes

Jenny has been a member at Bolton since 2007. She came onto the Executive committee in 2011 with some fresh ideas, and with her husband Ken started the Learn2Bowl sessions.  These have ensured a steady stream of new bowlers coming into the club and were one of the reasons why we became Bowls England Club of the Year in 2014.  She is a qualified Level 1 Coach.

Building Team Leader

Norman Wright

Norman took up bowling and joined BFGBC in July 2014 just prior to retiring as a University Lecturer. He has reached the Club Finals on several occasions, including winning Pairs and Triples competitions, and has represented his County on many occasions.

Social & Funding Team Leader

Pat McEvoy

Pat has returned to the Executive to take on the Social & Funding rôle for the second time. She began bowling at Bolton in 2008 and was appointed Club President in 2011. More recently she attended a Marker's course, and three years ago became a qualified Lawn Bowls Umpire.  She was part of the Lancashire team that won the Northern Counties Ladies' Championship (The Stella Logan Shield), in 2018.  She loves bowling and is still trying very hard to improve.
